Editor Love Letter

There are stories you enjoy, and then there are stories you carry with you long after you finish the final page.
(title redacted) was one of those stories for me.

When I first read it, I had never even heard the word Danmei. A friend lent me a copy to read on a long flight. I expected something entertaining to pass the time, but instead I became completely absorbed in the story and its characters.

What stayed with me most was the restraint, how much is communicated through what the characters do not say. The slow, almost unbearable tenderness of two people circling each other, showing up in small ways that quietly become everything.

Then the heartbreak when one leaves to protect the other, letting the other person believe what they need to believe. I was not prepared for how much that would hurt. It only made their reunion all the more satisfying.

The story was nostalgic, silly, incredibly sweet, and at times completely heartbreaking. I loved it.

Afterward, I wanted to buy a copy for myself. That was when I realized something surprising. The copy my friend had lent me was not an official edition. She had carefully handbound it herself because she loved the story so much and wanted a physical copy.

At first I thought she must be mistaken. A story so beloved by readers, one that inspired fans to spend weeks translating and binding their own copies, surely would already exist in English. Learning that it did not have an official license felt almost impossible to believe.

In many ways, Moonbridge exists because of (title redacted). It was the story that first showed me how powerful this genre could be and how many readers were waiting for these books to reach them in English. That realization is what led me to create Moonbridge Press.

It would be a tremendous honor for Moonbridge Press to publish this story.

As a longtime author and publisher in the English market, I have spent years learning how to bring stories to readers and build lasting communities around them. If entrusted with this title, Moonbridge Press would treat (Title redacted) as a flagship release, prioritizing it as the center of our publishing program so the book receives the focus and investment it deserves.

Our goal is to present the story in a way that honors both the author and the readers who already love it, through careful translation, thoughtful editing, beautifully produced physical editions, and wide availability.
